FBCA Registration Days/Open Houses
Open house and registration days will be held at First Baptist Christian Academy in Rosamond, on March 11, 12, 15 & 16. Parents may register for the 2010/2011 school year from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., each day in the school office.
Parents and guests are urged to visit classes and acquaint themselves with the atmosphere, curriculum, and teachers during the four days.

First Baptist Christian Academy is located at 301 Mary St. in Rosamond and offers a Christian high school, 4 year old preschool, 5 year old kindergarten, elementary, and junior high.
PCH Auxiliary Holds Annual Meeting

Pana Community Hospital Auxiliary held its annual meeting in the hospital’s community meeting room. President Diane Slater presided over the meeting.
The speaker at the luncheon was Nancy Alexander, Health and Wellness Coordinator of the newly opened Rehab/Wellness Center. Alexander gave a presentation on the Rehab/Wellness Center and stressed the importance of staying fit and active at any age and how the new wellness center can benefit people of all ages.
Roland Carlson, CEO of Pana Community Hospital expressed gratitude on behalf of himself, the Foundation and hospital boards, and the PCH staff to all the volunteers for their dedication and financial contributions to our local hospital.
Bonnie Flagg, who is in charge of staffing the volunteer desk at the hospital, gave a report on the desk for 2009. She reported 35 volunteers donated 1,515 hours of their time covering the front desk.
Virginia Ferguson gave a report on the gift shop volunteers. There are 45 volunteers who donated 1,810 hours of their time covering the gift shop.
Elections were held to install new officers for the 2010 year. Officers elected were President Diane Slater, Vice President Beth Hilton, Secretary Sandy Pinkston and Treasurer Rosemary Carlson.
In recent years the Auxiliary has given over $32,000 to the hospital for the new Rehab/Wellness Center and the Community Meeting Room.
Anyone can join the hospital Auxiliary. Meetings are usually held the last Monday of the month. The next Auxiliary meeting will be Monday, Apr. 26, at 6:00 pm.

Pana High School Art Club Presents 'Artie Gras' This Saturday

THE PANA HIGH School Art Club will sponsor "Artie Gras" in the Panthers Den of Pana High School from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., Saturday, Mar. 6.
There will be barbeque and hot dogs, booths with crafts, flea markets and antiques and fine baked goods. The public is invited to attend.

Ariel Hrabak Art Work Still In Competition
Pana High School senior Ariel Hrabak is among 25 top high school artists still vying for Artsonia's Idol title. She is the daughter of Bruce Hrabak and Anetta Hrabak.
Pana art teacher and Pana Art Club advisor Kathy Hanners says the next cut comes after this week when the group of 25 is reduced to 12. Those moving on in the contest are determined by Internet voting.
Voting in this round continues through Saturday, Mar. 6. Voting can be done by going to www.artsonia.com/artsoniaidol and look for "Ariel381."
In addition to voting, Hanners says you can visit the website to view other PHS students' art work.
FNB, Extension Offering Online Banking Classes
First National Bank of Pana and University of Illinois Extension Christian County are collaborating to offer Online Banking 101 on two separate dates at two Christian County locations.
Classes will be offered Tuesday, Mar. 16, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at the Lincoln Land Community College Computer Lab, Room 107, in Taylorville and on Thursday, Mar. 18, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., in the Pana High School Computer Lab.
Online banking allows people to conduct financial transactions on a secure website operated by local banks. Knowing how to participate in online banking can help people manage a savings and checking account, pay bills quickly and easily, view loans and certificate of deposits - just to name a few.
The public is welcome to attend, and the cost of the program is $5 per person. Checks are to be made payable to the First National Bank of Pana.
To register, call the University of Illinois Extension Christian County office at 287-7246, send your checks to the University of Illinois Extension Christian County, located at 1120 N. Webster St. in Taylorville, Il 62568.
Prepaid registrations are due by Friday, Mar. 12. All fees collected will be donated to the U of I Extension Programs and the Pana High School. Both customers of the First National Bank of Pana and non customers are welcome to join the class.

Pana Methodist Men Make Fire Clothing Donation

THE METHODIST MEN of Pana's First United Methodist Church donated $200 to the Pana Fire Department for their protective clothing fund.
The men's group had a very successful pancake and sausage breakfast recently and the proceeds are used to fund various church activities, as well as worthwhile community needs.

Pana Chapter HD P.E.O. $500 Scholarship
Pana Chapter HD, P.E.O. will be accepting applications for the 2010-2011 $500 scholarship.
The scholarship is in honor of the late Ruth Hebenstreit, a member of P.E.O. and home economics teacher at Pana High School.
Criteria for making application is:
¥ Must be a female college student
¥ Must be in junior or senior year of college
¥ Must be working toward a teaching degree
¥ Must be in Pana School District
¥ Must demonstrate financial need
Applications may be obtained by calling 562-3850 or 562-3049, and completed and received by Sunday, Apr. 18, 2010.
The scholarship will be awarded in May 2010.
To date, Pana Chapter HD has awarded $6,000 in scholarships.
